FINDING YOUR OPTIMAL DOSE
Sana Sana is focused on helping patients understand how to find their optimal dose with medicinal cannabis products, making their cannabis regimens individualized, user-friendly, and affordable.
Sana Sana believes a patient should be able to medicate when needed without fear of interruption to daily activities. Research states that our cannabinoid receptors are more receptive to smaller, more frequent doses versus larger, less frequent doses. Also, consistent small doses of cannabis signal the body to make more endocannabinoids and even increase the number of cannabinoid receptors over time. This indicates that the required dose and dose frequency will most likely fluctuate as cannabinoids levels increase to therapeutic levels.
The theory of “microdosing” has been implemented by research scientists with other plant-derived medicine that is known to have intoxicating properties. It is described as the ability to experience therapeutic benefits with only a fraction (little as one-tenth) of a typically intoxicating dose.
Research has shown that consistent small doses of CBD with THC can signal the body to produce more endocannabinoids and over time more cannabinoid receptors.
Sana Sana products are formulated to help avoid those far-too-common “I wish I could un-take that” moments experienced by those new to cannabis.
The Goal is to help patients find the right strain, lowest effective dose, best route(s) of administration, and frequency without interruption to their day.
Sana Sana understands the unpredictable nature of most health conditions and that regardless of age, sex, weight, or diagnosis everyone responds differently to cannabis medicine, period. How it will work largely depends on an individual's response to cannabinoids, dosing compliance, other medications, and lifestyle factors.
Gold Micro Dose Formula is the suggested starting point for patients new to cannabis and those who take other medications because:
Microdosing Gold Formula in different delivery methods and frequency might be all you need to effectively manage your symptoms.
It is always better to add one new thing
at a time to your routine whether it be
vitamins, medications, diet changes, and
*especially when taking other medications

Best Route(s) of Administration
Sana Sana believes that a patient should be able to have a clear understanding of: what they are taking and why, when to take it, and when to switch it up. It is recommended establish a baseline with microdosing and that is typically done with 2-3 micro doses a day. Cannabis is not a silver bullet and is definitely not one-size-fits all, it is important to be consistent, let it build in your system over time for max therapeutic potential, and monitor your individual response with a dosing journal. We suggest you increase the micro dose frequency before you try a stronger dose or formula. You very well might require something stronger, but what if you are managed with less.
The need for additional doses will vary for each patient. The ability to identify triggers allow for mindful preventative microdosing. It is easier to keep you out of crisis than it is to recover from one. For example, taking a micro dose before a known potential anxiety trigger rather than waiting until you are in a full-blown anxiety attack. Similarly, a microdose prior to activities that historically have caused fatigue arthritis flares, reflux, and so on can be better managed through preventative microdosing. When it comes to sleep, it is common to think, "I have trouble sleeping; therefore I will take something at bedtime" rather than "I'll take something this morning to help me sleep later." One doesn’t usually arrive at bedtime unable to sleep, it is something that is worked up to all day. Daily microdosing of CBD helps regulate the involuntary stress response helping to keep you in a better state of balance throughout the day. That way when you are ready for bed you are able to achieve restful sleep with an additional 1-2 micro doses instead of needing to knock your previously wired self out. For those who don’t think microdosing would work because they currently take large amounts of cannabinoids, just because you can tolerate it doesn’t mean you could not be managed with less. Even if you are one that will require stronger formulas, microdosing can still be an effective tool to determine the best strain and formulation that is best for you.
We want to set you up with the tools and understanding to effectively manage your day-to-day dosing needs.
Some patients think microdosing won’t work because they are currently taking large doses. The ability to tolerate a large amount of THC or CBD does not mean that is the optimal dose.
A GOOD TIP TO KNOW
SUBLINGUAL DOSING FOR QUICKER DELIVERY
If you are looking for quicker delivery into your system, try sublingual dosing—placing a product under your tongue instead of swallowing it immediately has its benefits. Sublingual dosing allows the product to get into the bloodstream quicker for more immediate results. Absorption through the sublingual route is 3 to 10 times greater than the oral route.
For sublingual delivery, place the dose under your tongue and hold it there for 1 to 2 minutes before swallowing. Capsules will dissolve under the tongue; whatever doesn't dissolve can be chewed up or discarded.
Dosing sublingually is only for quicker delivery, and Sana Sana does not recommend that it is how all products should be taken.
FINDING YOUR LOWEST EFFECTIVE DOSE
Cannabis is not one size fits all—everyone responds differently. The best way to gauge your response to cannabis, your need for additional doses or increasing the dose, and trying different formulas is by keeping a dosing journal. We are used to following dosing directions on a medicine bottle and that is not the most effective way to medicate with cannabis. We want you to find your lowest effective dose and have an understanding of what works best for you.
Here is an easy template to use for tracking your dosing and response.
WHEN DO I SWITCH UP MY DOSE?
You would be a good candidate for switching your dose if you find yourself taking multiple doses to get the desired result.
Switch to a Low Dose product if you find yourself microdosing 5 to 8 times a day, with 1 or 2 of those times consisting of 3 to 4 Micro Doses just to get the desired result.
To supplement the Low Dose, you can continue to microdose in between as needed. One Low Dose is like taking about 4 Micro Doses. For those who think microdosing won’t work because they currently take larger doses, well that simply may not be the case. Just because a patient can tolerate large amounts of THC or CBD does not mean it’s their optimal dose.
WHEN DO I SWITCH UP MY FORMULA?
A GOOD TIP TO KNOW
Consistency is key. Set dosing reminder alarms on your phone when you begin a new dosing routine.
If you find that Gold alone is not providing the relief you’re looking for, the next step is to try the Crystal formula. The difference between the CBD-dominant formulas Gold and Crystal is the addition of a THC strain chosen for specific therapeutic benefits based on the strain’s terpene profile. If you find the Gold formula is too stimulating at bedtime, this may be another reason to try a Crystal or Rustic formula.

Our CBD-dominant Gold and Crystal Micro Dose oils and capsules are pet safe too!
Just like humans, pets (eg, dogs and cats) also have endocannabinoid systems and receptors! Most pets can manage with the Gold Micro Dose formula alone, so we suggest starting with Gold Micro before trying the stronger Crystal Micro Dose formula. There are some cases where stronger doses of either formula might be necessary. Please request a consult to discuss further. Please let your veterinarian know that you’re planning to include a cannabis-based product into your pet’s health regimen.
Your pet may lick oil right off your finger; if not, you can add products to food or a treat. When starting microdosing with your pet, we suggest trying to coordinate with meals and/or treat times for consistency.
The medicine you give your pet should have the same standards for anything you would put in your own body. Make sure the product is safe and tested for cannabinoid content and quality and is free from any contaminants or additives. Seek guidance from a veterinarian, when possible. Monitor the effects that cannabis has on their experience because, as George Eliot wrote, “Animals are such agreeable friends ―they ask no questions, they pass no criticisms.”
